A long time ago, at the time of dusk, cold breeze flowed through the bank of the river. A child was sitting on the bank, watching the sky. Someone called from behind “Lets go brother, It’s about to get dark.” He turned around to see his sister standing. She said again – “It’s freezing today. Mother has sent you with this warm cover, take this and wrap yourself with.”

The child accepted the cover and holding his sister’s hands, headed towards his house. On the way, he was caught by a sight. The beggar’s clothes were torn at many places. He seem shivering as he approached in front of the child. When the child saw him closely, looking at his condition, he felt pity for the beggar. With heart full of sympathy, he gave the warm cover to the beggar and said “Baba, it’s not good to beg. God have blessed you with proper hands and legs, so work and earn your food. The ones who work hard should neither extend a needy hand in front of others nor have to lose your nobility.

The beggar looked at the child’s face for a while. He stopped begging from that day. Hard work and labor became his routine. When he stopped begging and started to work, he never had to spread his hands for his living with anyone. He became a honorable and self dependent man. In this way, an advice from a small child named Nanak helped a man to change the track of life. The same child later in his life became renowned to the world as Great saint Guru Nanak (April 15, 1469 – September 22, 1539).
