Staying Conscious- the Effective Social Distancing

It will continue to spread unless we are very conscious of its presence.

The term “Social Distancing” is infinitely protective at the moment of catastrophe, the world is currently facing. As in reality, distancing is the ultimate precaution against the approaching pandemic avalanche, but it might not be well enough. Social Distancing in this case also means staying conscious.

A wave of consciousness spread when early cases of COVID-19 spewed. Overnight alarms and lessons to stop shaking hands and to stay distanced from other human beings came vocal. But bound by the conservatism and culture, most of us could not deny it for months.

The scenario — when two people meet, one mistakenly extends his hand. The other person involuntarily can’t deny himself to reach out. Due to the fear of the forced notion of disrespect, the hands meet.

And the result — a massive outbreak of the pandemic viral disease.

This is how the virus outsmarted us. We continued to spread the virus with our own hands.

Closeness, touch, kiss or shaking hands is not a flaw in our culture, neither is a bad habit. But it’s the asset that a parasite utilized even without our consent. It directly attacked our delicacy and a respectful gesture.

Unlike the other parasites, this obligate parasite has its way to reach out to the living systems. It disguised itself as flu to be ignored in the eyes of the smart people. The virus loaded with a robust attachment and replicating mechanism built inside its nano-scale body (Capsid) could penetrate inside the cells and build its army within hours of infection.

Using our mutual gestures like handshakes and close talks, it found a way to outsmart even the smartest of us. It will continue to do so unless we grow conscious of its presence.

The first infection of this virus to a human being began in the city of Wuhan, China. Then, it began an endless chain of infection at a high rapid rate. You can take a look at how it made through thousands of hosts within a short period.

As of today, with its epicenter in Europe, it is far from being contained.

A virus is the most contagious particle and can spread rapidly. That is what it has done.

However, the key to preventing its infection lies in breaking the chain of infection. And for it, we need to act smarter than ever, now.

It is maintaining the social distance added with a conscious living habit.

In the affected parts of the world, a virus can be virtually anywhere.

The pen recently used by a stranger at the bank could contain infectious droplets. The air breathed out in the street, can have suspended particles containing virions. The fur of your cat could spray the particles on your face when you cuddle it.

The chances of infection are so high, that it’s better to abstain from normal activities to the possible limits in the hot zone. This deadly particle can stay viable in metal surfaces, dust, clothes and any forms of food.

There could be places where the virus waits for your action. Without any action, or by safer means we can break this chain of infection.

That is what we should be conscious about, i.e. conscious of its possible presence.

The next time when you make any action, make sure you are conscious that it could be the one the virus was waiting for.

Once we are conscious, we can better apply the measures to protect ourselves and our family. Hand sanitizers, frequent washing of exposed body parts, sterilization of surfaces, and keeping the distance from human interactions as far as possible are the measures to beat its infection cycle.

Social distancing might sound like a poor word choice. But its meaning is forcefully accurate. Byword, it’s not about attempts to divide and separate societies, races, cultures, gender or religions. It’s an attempt to separate the virus carriers from the non-carriers.

It is the distance to be maintained to keep ourselves and our families safe. It’s not a choice, but an obligation for all.

We are well aware that you might be a healthy person without any symptoms of the disease, but it could be the way this virus is living inside you. You might remain asymptomatic during infection, but still, may transmit the disease to others.

It is why being conscious is important for social distancing.

This distancing is only to break apart the chain of infection, not the human bond of love and affection. We are socially uniting by maintaining this distance. It is our new and superior form of understanding that’s being built between us.

We are together on a mission to fight our common weakness, which the cruel virus is utilizing.

Our conscious approach and contribution to fighting this pandemic are what makes us smarter beings. Thus, the smarter we evolve, the longer we survive.

Prayers for the victims of the cruel disease…Stay safe…
