A child was born to a poverty-stricken family in the outskirts of Montego Bay, Jamaica. The parents ran a small shop for a living. For not having enough money to buy a pair of sneakers, the child ran empty footed all his adulthood.

It was this man from an ordinary Jamaican family who became the greatest athlete of all time.

His name is Usain Bolt. He won the 100m and 200m running titles in not one, but three consecutive Olympic games. He bagged eight Olympic golds in total.

The world watched in awe when the sprinter got across the 100m line in 9.58s.

But for Bolt, it was an episode of life. He wasn’t surprised.

It was because, for him there was nothing to be surprised. The win didn’t come to him as a charming gift. It came for the pain he endured. It came as a squeeze of his hard work that never tired. It was the outcome of extreme focus to not miss a split second of his precious time.

The difference made in Bolt’s life was reckoned by struggle between the start and the finish line.

So he flared. He burned his muscles and tore off his limits. He strived to be the fastest. He leaped with lightning speed to his best.

Bolt discovered the best version of himself.

He got featured with cheetahs, wings, and legends. Beyond the finish line, his life completely changed.

Excellence is not being the best, it is doing your best.
