A man would frequently visit a nearby saint to learn and discuss wise thoughts.

One day, during the session, the saint said, “Looking after the family and carrying on the responsibility is our prime duty.”

But one should not be too obsessed with it. Together with his family, each man should devote equal or even more time to the service of God.

But the man could not agree with the saint…

He claimed that his family loves him infinitely and cannot live without him.

The disagreement elevated until a decision to hold a trial.

Later, the man headed straight to his house. In the lobby, he stabbed himself with a dummy knife and acted dead on the floor.

His family gathered in agony, crying and yelling.

At that very moment, the saint visited his house.

When he saw the man dead laying on the floor, he claimed he could save the man if they helped him.

The saint requested a glass of water from his wife.

With hope in her eyes, she brought him some water. Holding the glass, he recited some mantras.

“All right! Stop crying.” — the saint spoke. “I need one of you to drink this energized water.” With his finger raised, — “But beware; whoever drinks it will die, and this child will revive to life.”

Everyone around began eyeing each other.

Who would die to save someone else? Neighbors began parting ways.

The boy’s father said — “I would have surely drunk it, but if I died, my wife would not make it alone.”

The mother said — “I would have drunk it, but my husband will face great deprivation. He might even die without eating. I am more worried about him than myself.”

The wife said — “If only I didn’t have any children, I would have drunk it. Their love hinders me from taking any such step.”

The saint offered — “If nobody is ready, do you all want me to drink this?”

Everyone spoke even before his proposal touched the floor — “Yes, yes… you should.”

“You don’t even have any family ties… nobody to cry and lament… Please drink and save our child.”

The saint drank the water without hesitation.

Then the man suddenly woke up and said, “Guru! You were right. Now I understand the reality of this world.”
